Gone Fishing

A fun, lighthearted poem....especially for anyone who has ever owned a cat!
Dear staff I have gone fishing
I've taken a day off
From catching mice and insects,
oh dear, you may well scoff!

But I think it's time I took
some leisure time for me
So instead of sitting round the house
I thought I'd fish, you see.

There's plenty in the oceans
but instead you brought some home
What a delightful prospect
when I find myself alone.

You may think I'm out there lazing
or climbing all those trees,
But instead I sit here catching
the finger food that please.

I dip my paws into the water
oh really, what a mess
It's such an awful feeling
but I really must confess;

If I have to dive right in there
to catch these blessed things,
I know it will be worth it
for I'll be eating like a queen!

Now don't you stop to worry
I will be back in time
To see you serving up delights
on which I've yet to dine.

And I expect when I return
my bed be freshly made
With all the little feline things
that helps me pass the day.

You might find this amusing
but I really wouldn't laugh
Unless my stock's replenished
I'll be looking for new staff!

Until then I shall be fishing
enjoying my rewards
The succulent taste that's swimming
in the goldfish bowl no more.

"I guess this poem could only really be seen as amusing as it depicts the true character of a cat, and it's thought process, with a desire to go fishing in the owner's goldfish bowl! And then the cat has the audacity to make demands and expect things at a certain level of perfection that meets the normal feline standards."
