I purchased a new scooter just for me My kids say, now granny be careful Your new scooter is not like a car They seem to worry, you see. They keep telling me that I am old But there's one thing I want them to know I am not staying inside this house I'm riding my scooter even if it is cold. I say to my kids, now listen to me I'm warning all of you here and now You better keep the driveway clear Granny is riding the scooter, you hear. I tell them I know all the rules So, kids don't you fret Granny's got a new scooter And I'm not through riding yet! SpiritIsUp

Learning To Drive ~ Poem

I was so proud of me For I had learned to drive a car My husband wouldn't ride with me Or allow me to go very far But while he was at work I'd get out my extra key Sneak to where he parked And take that car with me While he worked all day I drove around the town Getting good experience With him no-where around You see, he'd get so nervous When he tried to teach me how So, I decided I could do much better If I done it by myself One day across the town I set out for a drive I had borrowed my sister's license We favored enough for disguise Then I walked to where he worked And drove away once more But...this time I got caught Not like it was before There I was, having so much fun Not aware of all the fear While he was nearly crazy Searching everywhere You see, they had asked if he Would run a little errand So he went to get his car, But stood there just a-staring! An empty place he found Where his Chevy once had been But where was it now Who'd pulled a trick on him? He made a call to home Where my sis answered the phone She told him I was gone Didn't know when I'd be home Unaware of all this I started back to park the car But, turned wrong down a one way street So did not get too far You see there was a policeman Waiting in the wings Just to catch someone Doing that very thing! He stopped me right real quick Asked me if I knew I was going the wrong way, lady There's a sign, you paid no attention to The next thing that he noted was the license was not mine So he gave me a ticket, It was a heavy fine I cried as I went on To put that car in place... But when I drove it in I saw my husband's face Oh my Lord, I cried Deliver me from this He was mad enough I could see To ruin our wedded bliss! When the storm had cleared I settled down a bit But...later I still took that car! New Fangled Device

When I was old with hair so white I made a decision, not too bright, To buy myself a new fangled device, Talked into it through a friends advice. Spent all my savings to get a computer. Nobody told me I'd need a good tutor. First came the basics, "bootups and shutdowns" And from that point my smiles turned to frowns. That big button for on, never off at all. Only for total lockup would that rule fall. And then a whole new language I must learn. There was MG Ram and CDs we could burn. And something that I really had to know, This word download; just click on go. And the word WinZip, here is a must. But, I must admit, it was then that I cussed. For security reasons, it's AVG and ZoneAlarm. Without them a computer can come to harm. And, whatever is scandisk and defrag too? This you must master or it is "woe unto you" And "pop-ups seem to come from everywhere, So it is important that you "click" with care. The one I dread says "fatal error has occurred". My heart will pound and I can't say a word. I pray, Dear Lord, where do I go from here, And I begin to know the meaning of fear. Will my screen go black or will I just "crash"? Horrible things through my mind will flash. They tell me in time it will all be so clear, But, I know that time is still not near. So, blissfully, it is on my way I go, Aware, there are things I will never know. But it is all worth it I'm happy to say, For with this computer I can "make my day". The pleasure I get from this new fangled toy. Despite all it's troubles it does bring me joy. Now all my daily housework just has to wait, For now I'm so busy that delay is their fate. So, thank you my friend, also my "tutor" For I love life now that I have my computer.

Astrology

We are all born at a certain time, With different qualities that are easy to define. There are twelve equal parts to the astrology chart, At the first house is where you should really start. The first house in the chart is very important you see, It will explain the place or persons' personality. How the person or place first appears to be, There are other things hidden though you can not see. The rising sign is how we think in our head It sometimes controls what will or will not be said. So when someone says they are a Leo with flare, I can’t help but look at them and stare. Scorpio is the detective of the zodiac, Studying astrology, well it takes a certain knack. Libra must have things balance, Pisces cannot decide, Virgo must analyze, forget it Taurus, you can’t hide. Gemini there always seems to be two, You never know which one you're talking to. An Aquarius will seem to float through the air, Now the Sagittarius they don’t seem to have a care. A Visit to the Dentist

Well it is time for a visit to the dentist again, I don’t want to go but I will feel better in the end. I finally gave in and called today, I can’t escape this no matter how much I delay. When it gets closer to the actual date, I know I should be on time and must not be late. But there suddenly is this fear that is gripping me, I pray for snow, a blizzard, anything you see. It is really very easy when you first get there, They have pretty music and a nice soft chair. The receptionist is always as pleasant as can be, But she doesn’t share my fear, don’t you see. I know sooner or later and I am fully aware, They are going to put me in that dreaded chair. Is it just a cleaning of my teeth I need today?, I hope so and it is not too long I have to stay. All kinds of things hanging everywhere, Enough to give anyone a good scare. Have you ever heard the sound of the drill?, The sound of that thing will give you a chill. There are very dark goggles to protect your eyes, Hiding things though and you are in for a big surprise. The stuff that they give you to make your gums numb, That taste is it cherry or bubble gum? I grip the arms of the chair as hard as I can, I even stop breathing but that is not part of the plan. The dentist is always so nice and has a special way, Of saying to me, “Are you ok?” When they are all through and I can finally get away, I try to remember to tell them thanks and have a nice day. My dentist really is very special you see, I am glad they have the patience to put up with me. © Brenda Sparkman February 2004

Life's Demands

Life is what tends to happen when we make other plans And seemingly beyond our reach they then slip from our hands. When troubles of so many kinds and more heartache we can bear Befalls on our tomorrows so much more than is our share. Demands are made of our time of home and family, Sapping till there's nothing left and we've no more energy. Soon we find we're overwhelmed and in a frazzled mess Lost upon life's bumpy path and waiting out its "test". So much has seemed to happen in such a small space of time When life went into overload so seemingly unkind; But you know there is a promise that you will see it through For no problem is too big or small that He won't take care of you. So do not be disheartened there's no need to despair Your friends are right beside you and we are always there; Just take your time relaxing and doing what you choose, Celebrate and be yourself for you've long paid your dues. © Christina 28th August, 2005
